“First Notes After the Storm” | Bozeman, MT

This piece was inspired by the storm and breathtaking sunset during this year’s festival. After hunkering down in my car to ride out the storm for a while, it finally let up and I got out to walk around the campground. I was met with one of the most amazing sunsets of my life and a silent calm had spread over the festival grounds. Although the stage performances were on hold for a bit longer, people playing music together started slowly filling the silence. It was also so cool to see everyone begin to emerge in awe of the sky. No one was upset or stressed about the music being on hold and instead fully enjoyed the show that the sky was putting on. All of these things (community, the land, the atmosphere) summed up what makes RAP such a special festival and I had to try and capture it the best I could!
