The Local Honeys play authentic Appalachian music. Fronted by the sweet harmonies and gritty songwriting of duo Linda Jean Stokley and Montana Hobbs, they can fill a theater with old time music or captivate festival crowds with their unique, electrified hillbilly alternative, lamenting the triumphs and tribulations of rural life.
As educators, historians, and preservationists, they have traveled the world, teaching and entertaining audiences in efforts to maintain traditional Kentucky music. During this time, they have headlined their own tours throughout Europe, opened for Tyler Childers across the UK, and supported Colter Wall on US tours. All the while developing their own personal styles, The Local Honeys have become an incomparable band with a truly authentic sound.
Taking bold steps recently to amplify their presence, The Local Honeys turned heads and won new fans when they stepped out of the pandemic with a full band. Ever against the grain, they have evolved from their debut release, Little Girls Acting Like Men and its follow-up, The Gospel, to become distinct and undeniable. Fresh from the studio and now signed to independent label La Honda Records, The Local Honeys recorded a new album with their full band that is slated for a summer 2022 release.
